2026 Spring Super Shot Competition – Registration Open!

Rules for Entry

Randwick Netball Association (RNA)’s social Spring Super Shot Competition will be held again in 2026. The RNA Spring Competition will be Wednesday nights at Heffron Netball Courts from 14 October 2026, concluding on 2 December 2026, and will be played across three time slots: 5.30pm (NSG/Junior), 6.30pm (Junior/Inters) and 7.30pm (Open/Mixed/Inters), based on team entries received.

The RNA canteen will operate during the Spring Competition but will not provide the full menu offered during the winter competition. The canteen will have a selection of drinks and pre-packaged items for sale, including chips, chocolates, lollies and ice blocks. We will also invite food trucks to attend during the Spring Competition.

Registration will open on Monday, 20 July 2026 and close at 5.00pm on Friday, 2 October 2026.

• Players must register via the PlayHQ application link provided by the Team Captain/Manager.
• Team Captains/Managers must ensure their team registration form is submitted on or before the closing date and that all players are registered in PlayHQ.

The RNA Spring Competition is open to:

NetSetGo – 7, 8 and 9 years of age (as at 31 December 2026)

Junior – 10 to 14 years of age (as at 31 December 2026)

Inters – 15 years of age (as at 31 December 2026)

Open / Mixed* – 15 years and over

*As per mixed rulings, only three males may take the court at any one time.

Spring Competition Dates 2026

Spring Competition Game Times

Game times are approximate and will be based on the number of entries received in each division. The first time slot will be 5.30pm. Please ensure flexibility with game times, as we will allocate times after team registrations close.

Team Registrations 

Team Managers/Captains – please ensure that only one team name is created via the PlayHQ application. Creating multiple teams with the same or a similar name should be avoided.

Teams must have no less than 7 registered players and no more than 10 registered players.

• Each team entered must have a dedicated Team Captain and/or Team Manager (WhatsApp group contact).
• Team players may be from the same club, different clubs, or a mix of clubs.
• The Team Captain/Manager will register the team’s name in PlayHQ and provide the registration link to team members so they can complete their individual registrations.
• The Team Captain/Manager must ensure the team registration form is submitted by the closing date, Friday, 2 October 2026, to seniorcomp@randwicknetball.com.au. This is essential to assist with allocating teams to divisions and to confirm whether teams are female or mixed. If no team registration is submitted, the team will be allocated accordingly.

Umpires

RNA has an Umpire Coordinator overseeing the Spring Competition for umpire game allocations.

Due to modified play for all NetSetGo teams entering the Spring Competition please note that your coach will also be the dedicated umpire.  If your coach cannot umpire, please ensure you communicate that through to us at time of team registration form submission.

All umpires will be allocated to games weekly in advance during the competition via a dedicated Umpire WhatsApp group managed by the Umpire Coordinator.  All umpires should be identified by wearing a white top.  All umpires will be paid at the conclusion of their allocated weekly games via EFT to their provided bank account by the Friday after the game during the Spring Competition.

All umpires are required to attend Control to sign on and collect or return goal post pads (for the first and last game times).

Registration Process and Fees

All individual team players wishing to take the court during the competition must register via the PlayHQ portal and pay the appropriate fees by the closing date. No player may take the court unless they are registered, and each player must be entered into the team line-up within the E-Scoring application prior to playing. Teams fielding unregistered players will incur penalties.

The Team Captain (or Team Manager) is responsible for registering the team’s name via PlayHQ and providing the registration link to team members. The link will be emailed to the Team Captain/Manager, who can then share it with individual team members. The Team Captain/Manager must ensure that all team players are registered and then submit the Team Registration Excel Form by the closing date to seniorcomp@randwicknetball.com.au.

Netball players who have registered for the 2026 Winter Season (of any NSW netball association) will be charged a fee of $80.00* plus Netball NSW and Australia Netball fees.

All players once registered will be covered by Netball NSW Insurance.

Netball NSW offers no refunds for player registration. Please take care not to duplicate your player registration, as no refund will be provided.

Team Registration Form

The Team Registration Form must be submitted by the Team Captain/Manager, ensuring all players have registered via PlayHQ prior to submission by the closing date.

While we note the “division/grade” on the team registration form, and depending on the number of entries, we will allocate teams to the respective age groups based on selection where possible. We do not anticipate re-grading divisions during the Super Shot Competition due to its social nature.

Competition Rules

All games will commence and finish by the siren.

1. Games will be four (4) 12-minute quarters, (4×12 minutes) with 2 minutes between each quarter.  Teams will change ends at end of each quarter.
2. Competition rules are as per Randwick Netball Association policy guidelines: proof of eligibility, registration of players, forfeits, injuries & no jewellery.

3. Mixed teams may have only three males on the court at any one time, with one positioned in each third only.
4. Two-point shots (super shot): the goal shooter (GS) and goal attack (GA) may shoot goals within the super shot area painted within the shooting circle. Music will play during the last 5 minutes of the quarter wherein super shots can be made from the paint area.  These goals count for two points if scored from inside the painted area.   During the first 7 minutes of play, goals as per standard netball rules, within the shooting circle including painted area, count for one point only.

1. Centre passes: After each goal, alternative team takes the next centre pass; teams alternate taking the first centre pass of each quarter. Under normal rules, a toss determines the first centre pass of the match, after which centre passes alternate between the two teams.

E-Scoring

As of Winter 2026, RNA has moved to E-Scoring. Each team will be responsible for providing its own e-scorer, who will need to be nominated and given access to the Spring Competition prior to Round 1. Team Captains/Managers will submit the relevant e-scorers to the Senior Competition Coordinator, who will then set up their access. All e-scorers should be positioned at the centre court sideline throughout the game.

Any team found to have players who are not registered but play during the spring competition will lose 2 points.  Unregistered players, wishing to play must be registered before taking the court.  Unregistered players, if injured during game play, may not be eligible for insurance provided by NNSW.

Patches / Playing Bibs

Each team will be responsible to supply their own patches / playing bibs.

Game Ball

Each team will be responsible for supplying its own game ball. The ball used to commence play should be used throughout the game unless it becomes faulty.

Playing Attire

As this is a social competition run by the Randwick Netball Association, playing attire will be left to each team. Players may all wear the same colour T-shirt with a mix of shorts, leggings or a netball uniform. All players must wear appropriate footwear for netball, and no jewellery may be worn or taped during play. As it is spring, please ensure players have sufficient fluids (bubblers are located around the courts) and remember to slip, slop, slap!

Wet Weather

In the event of games being cancelled due to wet weather half games will be played the following round.  RNA will communicate any wet weather notices via the RNA Spring Comp WhatsApp group.

Forfeits

Any team unable to play their scheduled game must advise the RNA by midday on the Wednesday of play.  Team Captains/Managers are responsible to communicate any forfeits direct to:

Points will be awarded to the opposing team in the event of a forfeit.

Final Round

The final round of the Spring Comp for all divisions will be held on Wednesday, 2 December 2026.  The winning team for each division will be noted as “first past the post”.
