ReGrading Policy

Re-grading will be considered by the Grading Committee after review of the competition and submissions from Clubs following the final game of the first round robin (generally Round 7).  Regrading is not to make the competition “even” but clean up those teams which are “anomalies” in their grades.

Criteria for consideration will include:

• Whether the team being regraded is a “clear stand out” in terms of performance in their current grade. This would require evidence that the team excelled and defeated all opposition by a large margin or alternatively were comprehensively defeated each week.
• Forfeits may be taken into account in determining whether a regrade might be appropriate.
• Consideration of the competition of the immediately adjacent division and whether there might be a suitable team for regrade.
• Clubs affected by a regrade request will be notified via email by the Competition Convenor immediately following the Grading Committee considerations and will have until 1:00pm the following Monday to appeal against the proposed regrade.  Where Rounds 7 and 8 are held on consecutive weeks, appeals are to be received by 7.00pm on the day they the club has been advised. The appeal should include all relevant information as to why the team should not be regraded.
• The Grading Committee will review any appeals to regrading and relevant Club Secretaries will be notified of the appeal outcome via email from the Competition Convenor by the Wednesday of that week.
• No further discussion will be considered after this point and teams will commence in new grades effective at the start of second round of games (usually Round 8).
• 6 Team Divisions: When a team is regraded up or down into a division with 6 teams it shall be placed into equal fourth (4th) position in the tally of the division into which it is regraded, that is, with the same number of competition points, wins, losses, as the team which is currently placed fourth (4th) prior to the regrade.
• 7 or 8 Team Divisions: When a team is regraded up or down into a division with 7 or 8 teams it shall be placed into equal fifth (5th) position in the tally of the division into which it is regraded, that is, with the same number of competition points, wins, losses, as the team which currently is placed fifth (5th) prior to the regrade.
• All decisions are at the discretion of the Grading Committee.
